A new study has found that loneliness increases the risk of diseases such as heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, and vulnerability to infections. Researchers from the UK and China analyzed blood samples from over 42,000 adults in the UK Biobank and identified five disease-causing proteins whose abundance was linked to loneliness.
